Divorce & Separation

Whether you have decided to divorce or separate, it is a mutual decision or you are on the receiving end, we will assist you with the legal process in the most cost effective and dignified manner.  The divorce process will usually take about 4-6 months from beginning to end however it is unlikely that we will advise you to finalise the divorce (apply for Decree Absolute) until the financial consequences have been dealt with.  If there are financial issues that have not been resolved then we will ensure that either through agreement or a Court order your financial position is fully protected before applying to have the marriage dissolved (Decree Absolute).

Where appropriate, we will advise you whether to pursue the divorce in England and Wales or in another jurisdiction.

There may be situations where pursuing a divorce may not be in either parties’ interests for a whole host of reasons, including, for example where valuable widow’s or widower’s pension rights will be lost.  In such circumstances, we will advise and assist with the preparation of a Separation Agreement.
